The Lazy Day Guide
As the snow has bestowed itself on Vancouver as it so rarely does, I have found myself graced with a day to myself to do absolutely nothing. This in itself is almost as rare as the snow on the ground, so I thought I would share with you my steps to the perfect lazy day.
1. Take a Bath.
Bubbles, bath bombs or epsom salts (my fave for my constantly sore muscles) are encouraged. My first step to any lazy day is taking a hot bath and allowing myself the time to relax. I like to do a little extra pampering and give my skin a good buffing, especially with the beating it's been getting from the cold weather outside. Today I used Tuscan Farm Gardens' Lavender Body Polish (it's my moms - thanks momma!) it exfoliates, cleanses and moisturizes your skin all at once, and it was heavenly! My skin felt smooth as butter and fresh afterwards, and as someone who suffers from dry skin, I would definitely recommend it. Tuscan Farm Gardens is a local BC company too - which is an added bonus.
2. Make a cup of tea.
The usage of your favourite mug is essential. Mine is my Mike Wazowski mug I got in Disneyland a few years back, I find it's the perfect size for tea, coffee, soup... anything really! Tea is probably one of my favourite things in the entire world, and a requirement for a good ol' fashioned lazy day. Today I used my Milk Frother and made myself a London Fog using Twinning's Earl Grey Tea (a classic), Starbucks Vanilla Syrup and some enriched Rice Dream milk (#veganlife).
3. Light a Candle.
I felt as though burning a candle named Snow Day was only appropriate. Candles are another one of my favourite things ever, and on a cold day who doesn't want their room smelling like one of their favourite scents? I blame my best friend entirely for getting me addicted to candles and my ever-growing collection. Snow Day is from Bath and Body Works Holiday 2013 Collection and is a fresher scent mix of spruce branches, peppermint and vanilla - it smells divine.
4. Netflix.
This is probably an obvious one, but what lazy doesn't include your favourite TV shows and Movies? I just recently jumped on the Netflix train (I'm a late bloomer, I know) and have found myself getting lost in a world of endless things to watch right at my finger tips. My boyfriend has been getting me to watch Breaking Bad with him after being shocked that I had never watched it (like I said, I'm always late jumping on the train!), but I have also been watching a ton of movies with it too like Breakfast At Tiffany's, Nowhere Boy and LOL! But today I watched The Guilt Trip with Seth Rogen - it was hilarious.
5. Read a book.
My entire life I have always been a reader, I'm a night owl and books were always my answer to finding something to do when no one else was awake. There's just something about the way sitting down and reading makes me feel, it must always be apart of my lazy day. Currently I am reading Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life by Justine Picardie. It was a lovely gift my from my sister's boyfriend that I got for my birthday, and I am loving it (though I'm only 100 pages in).
6. Lose yourself on Social Media.
... and do it without any guilt! I find in today's day and age it is so easy to lose yourself on the internet and have time fly by, but I've noticed more and more that we are being told to feel guilty for doing it because we are supposedly wasting our time and are too technologically attached. Whilst this is probably true, today is a lazy day so indulge a little and explore. Tumblr, YouTube, Pinterest and Bloglovin are some of my favourites, I love watching youtubers like BeautyCrush and Zoella or looking up inspiration on Tumblr, Pinterest and Bloglovin.
Painting my nails is something that I never take the time to do, even though I really love having them all done up. If I did paint them more often I probably wouldn't be so bad at it, but I really want to start taking the time to practice and give my nails more love. On lazy days I always think it's good to take the time and do something for yourself, and spend the time you don't usually have to make them look just right. Today I went with an Essie Polish in the shade Turquoise & Caicos . It's a it's a very springy pastel version of a tropical turquoise colour very similar to OPI's Mermaid Tears, and I really like it.
8. Create.
Whether it be writing, playing music, drawing, taking photos, making scrapbooks... create art in any way you can. Todays lazy day's choice was to paint. I just recently bought 8 new canvases and a set of acrylic paints to create an idea of a new series I want to do. Creating art is stimulating, relaxing and exciting all at the same time. Take advantage of the free time you have and express yourself in whichever way you see fit.
And that is my mini guide to my perfect lazy day! What do you do on your lazy days? Do you think I missed anything?
xoxo,
